eWise Cyprus Ltd - Esso has made a monetary donation of €1,250 to the "Iasoneio - Colors of Life" Foundation for Adults with Disabilities.
The contribution falls under the company's Employee, Retailer, and Partner Safety Award, an initiative that has been running for the past 23 years. Under this program, every 12 weeks, the company's retailers, partners, and colleagues nominate charitable foundations that perform community work. These foundations receive a donation from the company, provided that the employees themselves maintain a safe working environment.
The "Iasoneio - Colors of Life" Foundation for Adults with Disabilities provides daily social care and support to adults with intellectual, physical, and/or other disabilities. The programs, therapies, and activities implemented aim to boost the self-confidence and independence of the individuals they serve, enabling them to function as autonomously as possible within the wider community.
In the photograph, the General Manager of eWise Cyprus Ltd - Esso, Ms. Natasa Pilides, presents the donation to Ms. Eftychia Chaliou, Secretary of the Foundation's Board of Directors. Esso is once again the gold sponsor of the Philanthropic Classic Car Rally "48 Hours Cyprus", organised by OKAK in support of the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Association. The rally will take place over the weekend of 28 & 29 March 2026, with the start given at the Palliative Care Centre "Arodafnousa" on Saturday at 11:00 am and the finish on Sunday at midday in Limassol.
The Esso Team will have a strong presence at the classic car rally, participating with its own crew and vehicle, and joins this wonderful initiative with great enthusiasm — one that combines two important things: the desire to give back to fellow citizens and the love of the automobile.
Particularly sensitive to issues of cancer prevention and treatment, Esso has long supported the Anti-Cancer Association through donations, funding of programmes that provide assistance to patients and their families, participation in public awareness initiatives, and commitment to community activities aimed at cancer education and prevention.
This collaboration reflects Esso's dedication to CSR programmes and highlights the importance of collective effort in addressing one of the most significant health challenges facing society today.
Results of the island-wide campaign reveal the need for increased vision testing of drivers
04 March 2026
The first phase of the pioneering corporate social responsibility programme "Esso Safe Vision" by eWise Cyprus Ltd — Esso Branded Supplier — was completed with notable and, most importantly, useful results, with a total of 235 drivers participating. Over the course of 7 events, featuring free optometric examinations conducted for drivers at selected Esso stations across Cyprus, the campaign confirmed the need for increased vision screening of drivers, with the overall goal of contributing to road accident prevention.
Specifically, the results showed that 46% of the drivers examined have good vision and drive safely without requiring any correction, while 43% have adequate vision but need minor yet significant corrective interventions. The most concerning finding is that 11% of the drivers examined do not meet the basic visual safety criteria. This figure corresponds to approximately 1 in every 9 drivers who are driving with inadequate vision — often without being aware of it — posing a danger to themselves and others.
The central conclusion of the initiative therefore underlines the need for increased vision testing of drivers before they get behind the wheel, as good eyesight is an important factor in preventing road accidents.
The programme is implemented on the initiative of eWise Cyprus — Esso Branded Supplier — under the auspices of the Cyprus Police (Traffic Department), in collaboration with the Cyprus Optical Council. Equipment is provided by A. Potamitis Medicare.
